Sivaji:Music Preview

Posted by Sri Prasath Venkateswaran on March 24, 2007

I happen to listen to three songs  of upcoming Movie “Sivaji”.

1. Vaaje.. Vaaje.. En Jeevan Sivaji….This song is sung by Hariharan and Shreya Ghosal. The song starts with an Arabian Mix and progress at a very fast pace. This song has got a mix of Rajni’s style of duet and melody of Shankar’s Film Music

2.Sahara Pookal…This song is being sung Udit Narayan and Chinmayi. I thought that this song might be a Hindustani one. But this song has a right mix of Ghazal and Carnatic classical.

3. Orey oru Sunlight…Orey oru Moonlight….This song is being by Shaan and Blaaze. I take a bet, noone might have imagined such a song in Rajni’s movie. For those who have watching Rajni since 1975, you will get a feel of Thangamagan and Thanikattu Raja in this song.

Patchaikili Muthusaram:Review

Posted by Sri Prasath Venkateswaran on February 21, 2007

PKMS

Gowtham Menon has become as one of the hottest directors in Tamil movie factory. Although two of his other languages films flopped, this time he cameout with a different toast like Selvaraghavan in “Patchaikili Muthusaram”.

The story knot is very simple “If you try to deceive your wife, you get deceived by yourself”. The story is the portrayal of a common man. The most fascinating fact in this movie is that every one acted without make-up.

But the sluggish part of the movie is the slow screenplay. If you expect Harris Jayaraj has comeout with an excellent BGM in this movie, then I’m Sorry.

The cinematography charge handover from R.D.Rajasekar to Arvind Krishna and Nirav Shah has not done any betterment for the movie. The unusual editing of Anthony made me to rethink that has any editing been done in the movie.

The most important “plus” to the movie is Milind Soman and extra milage of acting by Jyothika. Gowtham has given a good number of villans to the industry starting from Jeevan, Daniel Balaji and now Milind Soman.

Sarathkumar has done excellent acting in the movie. Andrea the newcomer has done well.

So, the movie will be a good watch for the married couples.

Maniratnam’s Iruvar Vs Maniratnam’s Guru

Posted by Sri Prasath Venkateswaran on January 9, 2007

Iruvar                    Guru

Maniratnam doesn’t make controversial movies. But the themes of his movie are aired with much hype and controversy in the media. A decade ago, when he made “Iruvar”, medias revealed that “It is a story about M.G.R and Karunanidhi  personal life, and political indifferences”.

To some extent, it has been proved to be right said Movie and Political outviewers. Today the hype is slated on his next release “Guru”. Medias speculated the movie is a life history of Business Badshah “Dhirubai Ambani”.  Mani, in his recent interview to CNN-IBN said that “The theme is a just a fiction”.  However, the story is woven in and around
Gujarat, where Dhirubai Ambani hails from.

We have to keep our fingers crossed until the release of the movie on Jan 12th ……

Everliving Legends

Posted by Sri Prasath Venkateswaran on December 24, 2006

This is my first post after very loooooooonnnnnnnnggggggggggg gap of 5 months. Anyway what has happened is only for good.

Today is a day, where two Great legends left us. One the hero of the Dravidian Movement “E.V.Ramasamy @ Periyar”.

The other has started his career as co-actor in “Pulimuttai Ramasamy” Company, became a Cineactor, Followed the footsteps of Periyar, C.N.Annadurai and ruled not only Tamilnadu and also the people’s hearts.

That is none other than, Who is still cherished by the people as “Puratchi Thalaivar @ M.G.Ramachandran”

I like most of M.G.R’s films and his songs. But I still love verses from two poems.

“Unnai arinthal, nee unnai arinthal ulagathal poradalam”

“Valthavar kodi, Maraithavar kodi, makkal manthil niravar yaar”

Honourable tribute to these great legends.
